Kratom and Food – How should you eat around Kratom?
If you do your research on kratom you will notice a lot of people talking about kratom and food.
Kratom and food should not be taken at the same time so that the most pronounced kratom effect can occur.
Kratom and Food however are very tricky things to intertwine together, I feel like I have been trying to figure out taking kratom and food together for muscle building aspects.
Although to this present day, I still do not eat loads of food, I still think the following post will interest you as far as kratom and food go.
Can I eat While Taking My Kratom?
The main reason kratom and food should not be taken together is because kratom attaches to receptors in your stomach. (Also to your digestive track so you can get away with eating and still feel kratom effects)
If your stomach is full of food, the kratom cannot bind AS WELL as it could if your stomach was empty.
There is a way, however, to make kratom and food work for you.
I have never become a ripped beast using kratom and food, but I have definitely lost a lot of weight and used it to show a lot of definition in my body.
Some people could actually use kratom and food to finally get the six pack they have wanted. Click Here to Read More
Kratom naturally gives you appetite suppression, this is why I mention you may be able to get the six pack abs.
The reason being is that when you overload on calories, your abs are the first thing to disappear.
Using kratom and food to your advantage, will definitely bring you to your goals, if done right.

Kratom and Appetite
When it comes to the topic of Kratom and Appetite I had to do some personal research on this topic.
I was not sure if this was same every time I took kratom or it was a hit or miss thing.
What I have learned is that you can use kratom as a appetite suppressor OR Enhancer.
For the longest time I have been looking for something that MAKES me eat.
In the growing business of losing weight, most supplement stores have loads of ingredients that will help you suppress your appetite but have never found one to boost it.
I have been trying to figure out if kratom has been boosting my appetite and I have to say that it does seem to be when I use it in a certain way.
Kratom After Food: I found that when you take kratom AFTER your primary breakfast meal it will dramatically boost my appetite.
Eating breakfast in and of itself will make you hungrier through out the day but I have found with kratom I tend to feel hungry all day.
This is not always the case as it find it is hard to eat a lot. My history with food is extremely unhealthy.
I have a past and present of eating sugary type foods and a lot of fast food.
This is obviously not something that I am recommending but it is something that I must live with and fight to change.
Kratom Before Food: Alternatively, when I take kratom BEFORE my breakfast I find that it is a very helpful appetite suppressor.
Also without food the kratom effect is more pronounced and is usually recommended.
The fact that kratom suppresses your appetite does leave one to ask different questions such as:
- Is it healthy to not eat?
- What should I do about no appetites?
- Is there something I should know about the way Im not eating?
I would strongly suggest you view the topic of intermittent fasting.
I have taken the liberty to talk about it and explain how I personally use kratom for intermittent fasting.
Kratom Effects and food
Taking kratom on an empty stomach IS the recommended way to take it and will give you more effects. Depending on your personal lifestyle it may not be beneficial to starve yourself to have an effect.
As I workout and body build I need to eat a sufficient amount of food (which I always had trouble doing) and without eating anything there is no way to build any muscle.
When both kratom and food are found in my stomach at the same time, the kratom effects are not as pronounced as when I do not eat but all I need to do is up my dose by a TINY bit.
With this lifestyle, I am able to gain strength and still feel the kratom effects. Obviously some people will need to not eat before taking kratom BUT if you don’t workout than you don’t need to eat as much. You’ll find it, check out the kratom guide and you will be able to find your sweet spot in one of the blog posts there.
Conclusion
To conclude this topic on Kratom and Food I would like to invite you to try it yourself. Of course we are all different and will all feel things in different ways.
Some people will benefit more on using the plant on an empty stomach rather than a half full one and that fine too. Depending on what your primary use for kratom is, than make sure you are doing what is necessary to stay safe and healthy.
It is very important to get the minimum amount of calories from food you eat in a day. This is why some people may have trouble with kratom and food.
1.People who rarely eat could get help from kratom and food OR it could be worst meaning they eat even less than what they currently eat.
2.People who rarely have empty stomachs (besides the morning) may find the kratom and food aspect daunting for the fact that they never feel the full effects by having an empty stomach
Again like everyone is different you may need an empty stomach.
You may not be able to eat with it at first because the effects will be new, but, within 5 days you will be able to apply this to your routine.

You speak of Tim Hortens, does that mean you are in Canada like myself ?. I am just beginning on my Kratom journey, it sounds like you have a lot of useful information . I am hoping you can help me.
Hey Cynthia!
Sorry for the long reply I have been extremely busy!
I am in Canada and yes I was talking about old Timmies 😉
What was it that you needed Help with Cynthia?
I have found that kratom really only helps me, as I take it for chronic pain, on a fairly empty stomach. Problem is being so involved in body building, I eat every 3 hours at least, so it is not nearly as effective for me.
Hey Rich,
I hear you on that one for sure man, I too hit the gym, however I do not eat as much as I should due to time (excuse I know!)
Try taking your kratom about 1 hour after eating and see the effect. I personally wait 45 – 60 minutes after a meal to take my kratom, however as you mentioned, the effects are not as pronounced. I do still get a decent effect that helps me accomplish the task that I am using kratom for.

[…] Kratom and Food […]
Hi, I spoke with Brad of Botanical Kratom about the issue of food and Kratom. I told him that I get the most effect when taking Kratom on an empty stomach. He told me it was a placebo effect and that, in fact, kratom works it’s magic in the digestive track and not the stomach. He said that eating with kratom is totally fine and will not affect it performance because of the above. He even said that eating fast food at the same time as taking kratom was very effective. I have serious crashing eating an hour or two after taking it on an empty stomach. He told me to take it with food. What are your thoughts about this since you are affiliated with Botanical Kratom and may know Brad. Could you add anything to the conversation?
Hey Kaycee,
Although kratom may work on an non empty stomach, I rather take it on an empty stomach for a couple of reasons.
1. If I take it with food I tend to get bloated and burp a lot, as if I am full after eating a big meal.
2. I have always found taking kratom without food to be a more intense effect than with food.
3. I feel that for me it always hits better on an empty stomach. Same as pre workouts or anything that results in energy (but everyone is different)

I’m still trying to find a sweet spot with my food. I’m using it for suboxone withdrawals. So I dose regularly at this point. I can’t not eat, because I’m not healthy. I also have a physical job that’s I need energy for. I’m going to try tea. I’ve heard it works on a full stomach. I have to be able to do both. At this point in my therapy,I must eat 3 times per day. I also must dose 3-5 daily to remain functional and comfortable. I’ll update. Eating doesn’t destroy the effects. But it drastically reduces it.
Hi 🙂 I’ve found that the most important factor in play with kratom effect & food is less about the last meal and more about the last bowel movement. Example: If my last meal was 3 hours ago (no bowel movement) and I take kratom, the effects would be weaker than if I had eaten 30 minutes ago, had a good bowel movement and then taken kratom. So for me it also becomes a question of staying as regular as possible. But as someone else mentioned, taking kratom on an empty stomach isn’t alpha omega. Personally I never take anything on an empty stomach, since being hungry makes me agitated and any “drug” i consume in that state simply furthers the agitation.
Yo,
